FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is my project right for Home Design Rx?
Home Design Rx can handle a breadth of interior design projects, but our service is particularly suited to clients who need:
-Help in only one small area of a larger home, or help with a small home
-Assistance before or after a move
-Assistance with staging a home that’s on the market
-Someone to edit and organize your belongings or art
-A designer to work with what you have
-Help after a lifestyle change (new baby, new roommate, pets...)
-An evaluation of an architect or other designer’s plans/suggestions or material selection
-Help with a bigger project and want to try out our firm.
How long does the Home Design Rx process take?
Our part of the process usually takes 2-4 weeks: Keriann can usually schedule an appointment to come meet you in your home (or the project space if you are not currently living there) within a week or two; Felicitas will then design your project over the next week or two, and as soon as it is complete we will schedule your presentation meeting.
After our second meeting, you can move forward with ordering items and implementing your design at your own pace. And of course, you can always hire us to assist with the process on an hourly basis.
Why, as a high-end firm, are you taking on these kinds of projects?
After receiving a number of requests for smaller projects such as those we now handle at Home Design Rx, we realized there was a great need among busy professionals for interior design help with a specific project, or finishing touches on their homes but who do not need or want a full-scale renovation or redecoration. These kinds of projects are often too small in scale for high-end design firms to be able to take on, and so Home Design Rx was created to fill that niche. We know the market so well it is easy for us make a difference within just a few hours.
What information do you need from me?
To help us determine what is the best package for your project, we will need:
1. Size of the project (# of rooms or square footage)
2. Location of project
3. Approximate budget
4. Wishlist items and needs: paint color, sofa selections, furniture layout help
Are there additional charges beyond the package price or do I have to hire your service beyond the initial package?
Once you receive your design presentation, complete with a binder including a plan in sketch form, suggested elements such as paint colors, furnishings, materials, window treatments, sources etc. our work is complete and you will be 100% prepared to carry out the project on your own.
We are always happy to answer questions or make clarifications as a follow up to the presentation, but if you wish to make major revisions to the design plan or for us to select additional items or work on other areas there will be an additional hourly charge. We are also available to help process orders, hire contractors, and oversee work at our hourly rate.
What is the payment process?
Payment is due along at our first meeting. Payment is by cash, check or PayPal.
